Do you want to know something that really gets me fired up?
It’s when Moms (either online or in real life) are talking sleep, and I hear comments like this: “You should just enjoy getting up to nurse all night because someday he’ll be all grown up and you’ll miss it. You really need to enjoy every moment! ” Or: “You were the one who decided to have children. Did you REALLY think you’d be getting a full night’s sleep for the next few years?” Or my all-time favorite: “Well, you’d better learn to live with it; that's just part of being a mom!” My fingers are starting to burn just writing about this, so I’m going to ‘fire back’ with my top three myths about teaching your baby to sleep well: Myth #1: Your baby will not love you in the.....
What do the ABC's stand for? A = Alone B = Back C = Crib
The ABC's are so important because "..the rates of SIDS have plateaued in recent years, and most recently, infant sleep deaths have started to rise, due to unsafe products being used for sleep and the resurgence of co-sleeping among parents who have been misled into thinking that there are safe ways to bed share, which is scientifically proven to not be the case." ... "For all naps and overnight sleep, it has been statistically proven that following the sleep ABCs can aid in the intent to keep the sleeping baby more safe." Here is a closer look at the ABC's of Safe Sleep via HuffPost by Katie Letourneau When little ones are having sleep troubles, I always recommend getting them a Lovey.
What is a LOVEY? A LOVEY is a soft stuffed animal or blanket* that your little one can reach for in the night when they are having trouble getting back to sleep on their own. It's can be an amazing tool while they are learning the skills they need to get back to sleep on their own and it usually becomes an important part of their night time routine for years to come. This is a positive things because a lovey can offer children a lot of support and comfort when you're not there, it can help them feel brave when they want to call out for you in the night or when you are away from home. It helps bring consistency to their routine when they are sleeping at grandma and grandpa's or when a babysitter is putting them to bed (yes these things are really possible lol). Most adults I know still remember (if not still have lol) the LOVEY's that they had a children! That right there shows what a powerful tool a Lovey can be! It warmed my heart when I read a story about.... ****TTM&B's Sleep Tip**** Check out this brilliant idea from Walking on Travels! How to build a sleeping tent on a plane. This is a great way to help your littles ones get the #sleep they need while travelling on a plane!!! Whitenoise and darkness are key elements to helping your little moon bugs fall asleep! "As we watched our boys fall asleep in their tents, my husband and I looked around at our fellow passengers. OK, so maybe they didn’t applaud. In fact, I probably would have shushed them all if they had." Remember to put this little tip in your pocket for your next adventure, everyone including your children will thank you that they are well rested. Erin Neri ****TTM&B SLEEP TIP**** We all know that #teething #babies can sometimes be very cranky, and with good reason I'd say!! But this doesn't mean that your little moon bug needs to be awake for hours during the night or brought into bed with you for comfort. Once little ones have the skills they need to #sleep through the night independently, many just sleep on through the discomfort or at the very most need a little pain reliever*, a little snuggle and then they are back to dream land. So don't change your expectations just because you suspect your little one might be teething. He will likley be teething for about 2 years; that's a lot of sleepless nights that don't have to be. He may need a little extra comfort, a few more snuggles but don't confuse him by changing his routines, or your expectations; because he may just deside that he likes things better this new way and you have a whole new set of sleep habbit to break. Wondering how to tell the difference between a teething baby and a sick baby??? Check out this article... http://www.todaysparent.com/…/teething-when-to-tell-the-dif… *if the parent feels that's appropriate Erin Neri BAHAHAHHAHA!

Erin Neri Wondering what AVERAGE AWAKE TIMES and what a NAP TIME SCHEDULE should look like as your child grows?? Remember that these are AVERAGES; all children are different, so don’t freak out if your child doesn’t fit into the box right now. However, MOST will fall into these time frames with a little help from mom and dad. But it's usually a work in progress, especially if your little one is having trouble with independent sleep skills. It’s about watching the TIME awake and not the actual time on the CLOCK. It’s about finding that sweet spot for your child. That spot between not ready to sleep and becoming overtired. Remember many, many, many little moonbugs simply are NOT BORN with good sleep skills, it's something we need to help TEACH them. ♥ Your baby will have a better chance of falling to sleep with minimal fuss if you put her in her crib AWAKE and HAPPY but NOT overtired!
